Havasu Falls Prep – Dirty Dancing

T minus 11 days until our Grand Canyon departure!  We prairie folk from Illinois don’t have a ton of experience hiking in the mountains, let alone carrying a 30-40 lb backpacks along the way.

We decided to do a mock “hike” at Johnson’s Mound Nature Preserve in Elburn with our fully packed backpacks.

We trekked for about 3.5 miles, breaking in our shoes, making adjustments to our straps and getting a general feeling of how heavy our packs would be.

Then, things got a little, um…dirty.  Pretty close to the real thing if you ask me 😉
